c's 61st week

1 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
The big news this week is that C's Grandpa Richard's visit has come to an end.  It has been so nice having him around for such a long time as C's developed a wonderful relationship with his Grandpa.  He enjoys spending time with him and is super comfortable with him, which is just lovely to see.  What a lucky kid to get to see so much of all of his grandparents!

February 25 - March 3

Love C's curls!

Shadow play!

C loves to help sweep up!
Saying good-bye to C's Grandpa Richard.

What a goofball!

...All About C...
C's been having some highs and lows...all related to sleep of course.  The poor boy has got 2 new teeth and is now at 10 teeth! After seeing his teeth come out, I now understand why the kid has been so fussy.  These new teeth are in the back and they are absolutely HUGE.  Seriously...So. Big.  Ouch!

Thanks to all of the teething though, C's had a few rough nights with lots of wake ups and restlessness. A positive is that C has been going to bed awake this past week, which has been helpful.  It's nice to know that he does have self-soothing skills and is capable of sleeping without being attached to me.  Also we did have one night where C slept through the night.  Wohoo! One day we will get there consistently, right??

On a positive, C just LOVES reading.  He often will go through his basket of books and look at the books repeatedly.  There are times when he'll sit and look at his books by himself, which is super cute to see.  Then there are times when he'll bring book after book to either of us and have us read his books to him.  Sometimes he's happy with just one reading, but there are other times when he'll take the book back and forth between us and have us read his book to him many times.  Some of C's favorite books are written by Sandra Boynton and David Shannon and luckily we aren't sick of too many of them...yet!

One thing C definitely got from me is his super social personality.  He loves, LOVES other people and is generally not afraid of strangers.  This is great as people are ALWAYS stopping to check him out and take photos OF him and WITH him.  It's gotten to the point where we've joked about charging people as we could probably make a decent nest egg for C someday! HA! C can wave hello and bye-bye, he gives kisses and blows kisses, he gives the BEST hugs, he wais (Thai greeting), and still likes to do high-fives.  Usually he'll "perform" and do many of these for the people we come across and I gotta say, I get so proud of my baby boy when he does!  Love him and his friendliness!

c's 58th week

11 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
I have a confession...I have been a slacker blogger and am WEEKS behind on all of C's weekly posts.  My lack of posting has been really bad these days (the worse it's been in a long time) and because it's been so long, I've not been motivated at all to start playing catch-up.  The ridiculous thing though is that I have all of the photos and even have notes jotted down for each week, so it shouldn't actually have been that hard to get the posts done.  However, getting the rough form into a blog worthy post has been one extra step too many for me these past couple of months.

So do I give you the basic excuse of "life has been too busy" or do I try to come up with something better? The truth of the matter is that life HAS been busy, but honestly, not so busy that I couldn't just write a quick blog post once a week.  The real reason though is that I've let myself get sucked into the whole "who really reads this blog anyways" mode and "i don't have anything cool to share" mode, which has given me the excuse I needed to not to continue posting things.  After all, it's gotten to just be about C here and there are times when it sure doesn't feel as though there is a whole lot of ME left in this blog.

Thankfully I've had time to think this through and have come to realize that this blog is for ME.  This blog is not about seeing how many people are reading what I'm writing or to get recognition on what I've shared.  This is a space for me to keep track of all the amazing things life has given me and blessed me with.  This is a space to share MY story as it happens and the way it happens, which explains why it is all about C these days as he is someone I'm totally and delightfully enamored with.  One day this space may change again and highlight some of my other loves like photography or traveling or food.  But for now, it is C's world and I am thrilled to be able to document it as I'm hoping C will someday take a look at it all and hopefully not be too embarrassed by all that his mamma has shared!

Don't think for a minute that I got this mojo back on my own though.  I have to say a MAJOR thank you to a lovely fellow blogger (shout out to Carrie who just commented on my 57th week post) for reminding me that there are others around me who are going through a similar phase in life.  Our lives may not be super exciting or exotic, but it is OUR life and boy am I happy to be living it and sharing it!

February 4 - February 10

C visiting his great grandma, his Aitai!

C saying "brrrm, brrrm" and trying to push his Aitai around.

Looking pretty sweet!

Love this profile!

...All About C...
Poor C had it rough this week and was teething again, or at least we think so.  Again, I feel as though C has been teething for forever now, but still no new teeth are coming out! Poor guy has been miserable in the evenings when there are no distractions to keep the pain at bay.  Hopefully something will happen soon as his next set of teeth will show up as we are ready to be done with teething!

C also has had a bit of a cold this week and has had a really terrible cough.  He's back on medication and hopefully he'll feel better soon.  I think we are super wary of coughs now as we definitely don't want it to be another hospital visit like his pneumonia episode.  So what might have just needed some time, ended up sending us taking a quick trip to the doctor to make sure it doesn't get worse.

To end on a fun note, C has been dancing a lot this week.  He does this adorable little stomping thing when he hears music or when we read certain books that rhyme.  It is so cute! I'm hoping he'll get my rhythm as time progresses though! :)

c's 49th week

2 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
The weeks are beginning to fly by as they seem to keep getting busier and busier.  This week was particularly hectic as we had lots of events to go to.  In fact, there were so many things going on this weekend, we totally had to prioritize things as there was just no way to do it all.  I always find it interesting how some weeks are super low key and then BAM you are hit with so many invitations to things.  Anyways, with so many outings this week, C was a trooper about his schedule as it was kind of all over the place with weird bath times, late nights, and unfamiliar places.  Thankfully he did great!

A highlight this week was being able to celebrate Thai Father's Day with Matt.  This was nice as his first Father's Day was spent recuperating from C's chicken pox.  So in order to make up for the major delay, I tried to plan a fun day.  We went to a great restaurant called Nic's and then headed to the Night Safari to check out the animals.  Our timing was perfect as we were able to go on the two animal tours the park has to offer without waiting around.  It was a fun day with some great firsts for all of us.

The second highlight was attending a Baby Christmas Party hosted by the group of supportive women who helped us throughout our pregnancy, delivery, and after care.  The ladies invited all of the families they worked with over the course of the year so that they could have a chance to reconnect with the babies.  It was such a sweet time for us to be able to go back and say thank you again to this group of seriously amazing women.  They were such a wonderful resource for us and we will forever be thankful.  I also really loved seeing C interact with the other kiddos.  He totally made friends by sharing his cheerios!

The last highlight was going to a friend's house for a St. Nicholas Party.  It was a fun time to get together with a bunch of friends and their families and really start celebrating this season.  It totally put me into the Christmas spirit as we made ornaments, ate delicious gingerbread cookies, and shared some tasty foods.  I really like get togethers and cannot wait to host parties of our own someday!

Besides from the outings, C has had a big week all on his own.  This week, C began to take a couple more steps.  Some people classify these steps as C officially becoming a walker, but we aren't so sure about that as he does still fall onto his bum a whole lot.  That said, I don't think it is too far off now! As he is learning to take steps, his balance is getting a lot better helping C to stand alone for longer periods of time without any assistance.  Also this boy is teething, teething, TEETHING! He seems to be in quite a bit of pain and is particularly fussy at bedtime.  He has the nastiest diapers and drools constantly! I'm hoping whatever tooth is coming out will hurry up and come on out already as I feel so bad for poor C.  This teething business is not fun at all.

Day 337 (12/3)
So thankful that C loves his bath time with his daddy!
He loves these stacking cups and will poor water all over himself! HA!

Day 338
This boy can CRAWL! When he gets moving, he is fast!

Our little monkey on his first ride on a swing!
 Day 339 (12/5)
Happy Thai Father's Day Matt! You are the best dad ever!
C and I are so very thankful for who you are and for all that you do in our lives.

Day 340
C learning the fine art of sharing!

Day 341
These three babies were all born in January.  C was born first, then the little boy and finally the little girl.  Us mamas are totally hoping our little ones will become best buds!

Day 342
Running errands can get tiring...

Day 343
Finally some photos of C with his first Christmas Tree!

...Things to Remember...
- C tried oranges for the first time this week! He was playing with a small one as he kept calling it a ball and I let him have it.  He then took a big bite of it, so I figured I might as well peel it and let him have a try.  After all, he's pretty close to turning one, so I'm hoping it won't hurt his tummy anymore.  The verdict...C loves oranges!
- As the weather is getting cooler, we aren't using the AC anymore, which has been quite nice.  C stays in his PJs for most of the day as it keeps him nice and toasty.
- On a personal note, I went to a Cookie Exchange this week and had lots of anxiety fun baking cookies with Matt and my mother-in-law (Jacquie).  C had a great time during all of this too as he played in the kitchen cupboards while we were busy baking.  Matt and Jacquie were a HUGE help to me and I even won The Best Looking Cookie Award! :)
