c's 57th week

3 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
Happy Chinese New Year! CNY always brings back wonderful memories of when I was a kid.  We used to always get to skip school for the day to go out on fun family outings with our extended family.  We also got brand new clothes to wear that had to have red in it of course.  The best part though was always getting the red envelopes with money that we could use to buy whatever we wanted! :)

This year we celebrated with family by only going out to dinner as everyone was rather busy.  It was a wonderful time to get together and enjoy a traditional Chinese meal.  However, I'm hoping that as C gets older, we'll do a bit more for this holiday as it is a part of his heritage and one that I want him to always look forward to.

January 28 - February 3

C's Apo bought him an adorable Chinese outfit to wear!

Too cute!

Hanging out with his Ayi!

C with his Grandpa and Apo!

3 generations!

Finally a family photo!

Where are the smiles C?!?

Checking out the ponies in the mall.  C wasn't such a fan of them.

C did enjoy the rocking horse though!

...All About C...
C really doesn't like sweets...again, totally not my child.  Ha! He was given many opportunities to try out cake and ice-cream this week, but he just wouldn't have anything to do with them.  I know there will come a day when he will love all things sweet, but until then, I've loving our healthy baby boy.  What C does like is to eat sour things.  I've been hesitant to give him to many citrus fruits for fear that it might hurt his belly, but C just loves them.  Don't worry, I don't give him tons of sour fruits to eat, but he has had a few bites and doesn't seem bothered by it at all.  These days, C's favorite snacks are yellow bell peppers, oranges, pomelos, grapes, cheese, and cheerios.  To be honest though, if there is food around, C will always ask for some and more often than not, he will enjoy it all and want more!

So C has been pretty adorable lately.  When we are out and there are other kids around, he will often make a beeline to them.  It doesn't matter if they are older than him or younger than he is, C just wants to be near others.  It's gotten to the point where instead of just going up and smiling at them, he now will give them full on hugs and will even try to kiss them! So funny! He's not so gentle yet and doesn't have much control, so we are quick to step in when he does it, but seriously, it is pretty cute to see our little man being so affectionate.  HA! I guess we need to start up some play dates to get our boy socialized or he may not learn about personal boundaries fast enough! :)

c's 53rd week

7 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
Since C has now made it to his first birthday, I've decided to cut myself some slack and take it down a notch with all of his updates.  PHEW! Let me just tell you what a relief it is to make these changes as it was getting tough taking all of the daily shots of C.  My goal this year is to continue to take photos of C regularly and to hopefully post shorter weekly updates with just some of my favorites from the week.

I seriously went crazy taking photos of C this past year.  I often took WAY too many photos (of the same thing) as it is digital after all (yes, I'm smacking my head over the digital comment).  Then when it came time to look through all of the photos, I had such a hard time deleting shots and occasionally became overwhelmed with choosing which ones to keep or throw out.  So in C's first year alone, I've got about 7,000 photos! Isn't that ridiculous?!? He's so going to hate going through them all one day.  This year another goal I have is to be more aware of the shots I'm taking, the reasons for the shots, variety in my shots, and to become more diligent at throwing out the bad ones.  It will be hard, but hopefully I won't have another 7,000 photos come next January 1st.

January 1 - 6

Birthday shots with Grandma! When we took her to the airport, he totally started crying when she said goodbye.  It was pretty adorable as the timing was perfect, but also super sad.

C, Daddy, and Grandma!

...All About C...
Oh my goodness...my baby is all grown up people! I still can't believe that I have a ONE YEAR OLD! He is such a ham and is so much fun to be around.  He is super active and is constantly on the go.  He continues to babble more and more and is very expressive.  He will nod, shake his head, point, and even stomp his feet to get his feelings across.

Since turning one, C has now officially tried sweets (birthday cupcake) and wasn't a huge fan.  Instead, he absolutely loves string cheese and yellow bell peppers.  C doesn't ever stop to lay down for a rest, but he has begun to rest his head on different surfaces for just a few moments.  It's pretty sweet to see.  C continues to love his bath and this week tried to dunk his head in the water.  He wasn't so thrilled when he swallowed some though, so hopefully he won't try that one again.  C also is a super messy kisser and will come at me with his mouth wide open! It's pretty sweet and maybe just a little bit gross.  HA! I love my baby boy!

c's 49th week

2 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
The weeks are beginning to fly by as they seem to keep getting busier and busier.  This week was particularly hectic as we had lots of events to go to.  In fact, there were so many things going on this weekend, we totally had to prioritize things as there was just no way to do it all.  I always find it interesting how some weeks are super low key and then BAM you are hit with so many invitations to things.  Anyways, with so many outings this week, C was a trooper about his schedule as it was kind of all over the place with weird bath times, late nights, and unfamiliar places.  Thankfully he did great!

A highlight this week was being able to celebrate Thai Father's Day with Matt.  This was nice as his first Father's Day was spent recuperating from C's chicken pox.  So in order to make up for the major delay, I tried to plan a fun day.  We went to a great restaurant called Nic's and then headed to the Night Safari to check out the animals.  Our timing was perfect as we were able to go on the two animal tours the park has to offer without waiting around.  It was a fun day with some great firsts for all of us.

The second highlight was attending a Baby Christmas Party hosted by the group of supportive women who helped us throughout our pregnancy, delivery, and after care.  The ladies invited all of the families they worked with over the course of the year so that they could have a chance to reconnect with the babies.  It was such a sweet time for us to be able to go back and say thank you again to this group of seriously amazing women.  They were such a wonderful resource for us and we will forever be thankful.  I also really loved seeing C interact with the other kiddos.  He totally made friends by sharing his cheerios!

The last highlight was going to a friend's house for a St. Nicholas Party.  It was a fun time to get together with a bunch of friends and their families and really start celebrating this season.  It totally put me into the Christmas spirit as we made ornaments, ate delicious gingerbread cookies, and shared some tasty foods.  I really like get togethers and cannot wait to host parties of our own someday!

Besides from the outings, C has had a big week all on his own.  This week, C began to take a couple more steps.  Some people classify these steps as C officially becoming a walker, but we aren't so sure about that as he does still fall onto his bum a whole lot.  That said, I don't think it is too far off now! As he is learning to take steps, his balance is getting a lot better helping C to stand alone for longer periods of time without any assistance.  Also this boy is teething, teething, TEETHING! He seems to be in quite a bit of pain and is particularly fussy at bedtime.  He has the nastiest diapers and drools constantly! I'm hoping whatever tooth is coming out will hurry up and come on out already as I feel so bad for poor C.  This teething business is not fun at all.

Day 337 (12/3)
So thankful that C loves his bath time with his daddy!
He loves these stacking cups and will poor water all over himself! HA!

Day 338
This boy can CRAWL! When he gets moving, he is fast!

Our little monkey on his first ride on a swing!
 Day 339 (12/5)
Happy Thai Father's Day Matt! You are the best dad ever!
C and I are so very thankful for who you are and for all that you do in our lives.

Day 340
C learning the fine art of sharing!

Day 341
These three babies were all born in January.  C was born first, then the little boy and finally the little girl.  Us mamas are totally hoping our little ones will become best buds!

Day 342
Running errands can get tiring...

Day 343
Finally some photos of C with his first Christmas Tree!

...Things to Remember...
- C tried oranges for the first time this week! He was playing with a small one as he kept calling it a ball and I let him have it.  He then took a big bite of it, so I figured I might as well peel it and let him have a try.  After all, he's pretty close to turning one, so I'm hoping it won't hurt his tummy anymore.  The verdict...C loves oranges!
- As the weather is getting cooler, we aren't using the AC anymore, which has been quite nice.  C stays in his PJs for most of the day as it keeps him nice and toasty.
- On a personal note, I went to a Cookie Exchange this week and had lots of anxiety fun baking cookies with Matt and my mother-in-law (Jacquie).  C had a great time during all of this too as he played in the kitchen cupboards while we were busy baking.  Matt and Jacquie were a HUGE help to me and I even won The Best Looking Cookie Award! :)
