c's 36th week

What a week! We have had yet another roller coaster week with C.  I feel as though I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but this is just where life is at these days.  I could sugar coat it and only talk about the good stuff, but that doesn't seem right to me.  So here I am being real about our current reality and hoping it will change soon as we are TIRED! :)

C has continued to have a rough week with a visit to the doctor for his cough that moved into his chest.  We got some meds for him and our kid is awesome at taking them.  He doesn't fuss over having the dropper in his mouth and drinks it all up.   I'm so happy it is not a fight to get him to take it as I'm pretty sure Matt and I would lose.  C is plain old yucky these days with drool coming out of his mouth and tons of snot coming out of his nose.  It's especially nice when he shares and rubs his face against my clothes or skin...yay.  This said, C is still a super happy baby, which we are so thankful for.

I don't know if his cold has made things worse or not, but C's sleep is seriously all over the place.  The only pattern I'm noticing is that if we have a couple of bad nights sleep, we are bound to get a good one as C is super tired by that time too! What can I say...I'm trying to see something positive in all of this madness.  C's been napping better, which is great for his Apo and his temperament.  At night, C is now waking up wide awake ready to play, meaning that it takes a long time to get him to settle back down to sleep again.  We have to nurse him, rock him, let him cry, or sometimes all of the above before he'll go back to sleep.  Some nights it takes 2 minutes and other nights can take up to 2 hours.  Either way, the interrupted sleep is slowly getting to us and we are ready for something to change.  I don't know what's going to change or how the change is going to happen, but we are ready.

Day 246 (9/3)
C exploring the plants outside.  He may have sucked on some of the leaves too!

Day 247
We went out to eat and C did great!

Day 248
Who's ready for bed?? Not C!
That middle picture cracks me up as he looks so funny to me!

Day 249
Hanging out at his Ayepo's house.  The pillows were definitely not keeping him in place!

C & his daddy!

Day 250
Evening photo shoot with some beautiful light.

Day 251 (9/8)
C loves eating bananas and now loves biting into them like a big boy!

Day 252
He's got his hands all tucked under him.  Too funny!

Do we look tired because I sure feel it!

...Things to Remember...
- C was able to bite pieces off a banana this week! He LOVES it.  I had to be super careful when feeding him as he would have gladly eaten massive bites, which obviously wouldn't have been good.  He is so ready to chew and use his teeth I think.  A sure sign is how he loves to pretend he is chewing on his pureed food.  Too funny!
- I don't think I've mentioned this before, but when C is nursing to sleep, he loves to pull his hair.  Sometimes it is gentle and it seems like he just likes the feel of the hair in between his fingers.  However, other times he is so rough and grabs at his hair and pulls hard! Hopefully this won't be a habit as he gets older as I would hate for him to have bald patches from hair pulling.  Yikes!
- On a personal note, I'm STILL losing hair on my head.  It is seriously not cool.  Thankfully baby hairs are beginning to grow back.  The only bad thing is I've got small hairs poking up all over the place and I feel as though I look so messy.  Oh well.  At least I will still have hair and not grow bald! HA!

  1. His father twirled his hair when he tired and held on to the back of my hair in case I put him in bed so he could wake up.........somehow now I miss that but then it was quite loving and frustrating at the same time.
I still maintain he has the cutest expressions and I can not wait to hold him in my own arms.........love mom xoxo

  4. So sorry about your sleep troubles. I hope that gets sorted soon for everyone's sake. No fun. My youngest loved to play with his hair and mine. I always thought it was sweet, and something I miss.
