Merry Christmas 2012!
Lots of gifts under the tree!
We had a wonderful Christmas here in Chiang Mai, although we did miss having all of our family members around. This is definitely the time of year when I wish we lived closer to family and had more people around to make memories with. Can't everyone just move to Chiang Mai?!? This year, our Christmas morning was spent opening gifts with just the three of us...Matt, mom, and me.
Matt made these for me. They are frames filled with souvenirs from four of our trips.
Now he's got to do the others! :)
Then we went for our usual Christmas lunch at The Holiday Inn. We've been coming to this hotel for the Christmas lunch for a long time now, so it has definitely become a tradition that we look forward to. The food was fantastic and some highlights included: the beef wellington, turkey, prime rib, ostrich, venison, different cheeses, the chocolate souffle, creme brulee, and I could go on and on. There was so much food that we were there for almost four hours! This year we enjoyed our meal with some friends from out of town and some extended family. It was really lovely.
With our festive hats!

With mom!
After all of the food, we went home and napped. It was fabulous! The rest of the evening was just spent relaxing, watching some TV, and enjoying a nice quiet night at home.
As much as we enjoyed our Christmas this year, we are all definitely looking forward to Christmas next year when baby boy will be around and big enough to enjoy the holidays. We'll see if we can still sit at the hotel and enjoy a four hour lunch or not! :)

We only wish we could have been there but we were in thought and hearts....thanks for sharing xoxoox

It can be hard when family is not there to celebrate Christmas but it sounds like you were making good memories with this season. Congradulations on your upcoming baby!

DeleteMerry Christmas! I totally understand how hard it is to be away from family at Christmas--we were blessed to be with my dad and brother this year. It was so exciting! And we loved Thailand! We went down to Hua Hin, but we had many friends go to Chiang Mai. Love the gift from your hubby!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you get to Chiang Mai one of these days! :)
