I know this is a bit late, but better late than never, right? This year Matt and I went home to Chiang Mai for our Christmas Break. It was so nice to go home for a visit since the last few times had been super hectic with all of the wedding planning that needed to be done before the big day. The goal was just to kick back and enjoy being home. Most of our time was spent hanging out with family and friends until the wee hours in the morning. It was wonderful catching up with everyone and reconnecting in person rather than online. I enjoyed making the new memories and had tons of fun every day. The only downfall is that I'm an old lady now and let me just say that I was definitely exhausted by the time we had to catch our plane back to HK. Ha!
Some of the highlights from our trip included spending Christmas with my parents since we didn't have one in 2010 together as Matt and I were in India. It was really fun to catch up with a high school friend (Krista) and her family since it had been about 5 years since I'd last seen them all. We were able to go to another friend from high school's (Liz) belated wedding reception and celebrate with her and her husband. We enjoyed fight night at the Faucett's home with some great company and absolutely delicious snacks. There were a couple of extended family get togethers that included yummy food, terrific company, and some fun family time. The kicker was spending New Years in the hospital with my parents and then out in the old city with friends and later bumping into ex-students. With all of this going on, Matt and I did get to squeeze in a couple of massages, were able to eat out at all of our favorite restaurants (and go to some new ones), and have some time alone.
Can't wait to spend more time in Chiang Mai!

DeleteAwesome! We are hoping to make it to Thailand next Christmas and now we know to look for khanom bueng thai!
ReplyDeleteThailand is wonderful, not that I'm biased or anything! :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you can make it up north, Chiang Mai is a wonderful place to visit while in Thailand.
DeleteLooks and sounds like a really fun time
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting! It is always wonderful to go back home. :)
DeleteWe were talking in church Sunday about some friends who are missionaries in Chiang Mai. I'd never heard of it before, and now I've heard of it twice in one week. The photos are lovely. It looks like an incredible place to visit. Stopping by from Sweet Shot Tuesday to say hi!
ReplyDeleteWhat a small world! My parents have been missionaries in Chiang Mai for well over 30 years. It is a wonderful place and if you ever have a chance, I would highly recommend it. :)
