merry christmas 2014

Merry Christmas from our family of three!
(This is our Christmas card this year.  Hope YOU got it and if not, send me your address for next year!)

We had a very merry Christmas this year and hope that you did too! C definitely got into the spirit of things this year and was super excited for Christmas morning to come around.  We have started a new tradition (I think) in which we host Christmas at our house.  It is a lot of work, but with everyone helping out a bit, it is definitely manageable and so much fun!

The morning started with us at home opening some presents as a family of 3.  Then Grandpa came downstairs and joined us as we opened a couple more presents.  Then Apo and Kong Kong came over.  We had a delicious brunch that Matt prepared, complete with mimosas! After eating our fill, we opened more presents! The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and prepping for dinner.  We had some guests come and then had a beautiful turkey dinner with all of the fixings! It was really nice to open up our home to our family and have everyone together.  I love Christmas! :)

Pre-Christmas cookie prep!
C loved decorating the cookies.

Oh the CHEESE coming from these two!

Enjoying his stocking.

Merry Christmas!

Cheers!

Cookies....breakfast....love!

c in november

0 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
This has been a much calmer month and we are back to our routines again, which is really nice.  I am a routine person and feel better when we have consistency in our life.  I think that it is good for C too as then he knows what is going on.  Don't worry though...when fun things happen, we are totally flexible and happy to adjust our routine. HA!

So the weather is getting cooler and we are enjoying the change.  This month C was able to experience only a small part of Loy Krathong by letting off some Khom Loys at home.  However Matt and I were able to go out and enjoy one of the parades in town with friends.  It was fun to be out with people! We are so thankful for my mom who helped watch over C.  Yay for fun without the kid! Haha!

After Thanksgiving (how do I have no pictures of that?!?), we put up our tree.  I gave C the small one from our previous home and he was able to go to town on it.  C totally enjoyed putting up his ornaments and rearranged them a lot of times.  I definitely think this is going to be a tradition we maintain so that he has control over his tree and will hopefully leave the family tree alone! Is that wishful thinking?!

Sleeping so peacefully....

Letting off a Khom Loy (lantern) at home...

Happy Loy Krathong!
This is from a parade in town one night...

Sticker fun!

Getting his coloring on!

Enjoying his first Christmas cookie....it was a hit!

Decorating his own special tree...

WOW!

...All About C...
C has had a terrific month with lots of new firsts.  He is growing and changing so much! He is doing more on his own and definitely has an opinion on things.  Ha!

c's 52nd week

5 COMMENTS THAT ENCOURAGE ME
We have made it and have reached the completion of C's first year of life and what an adventure it has been!  How in the world did our baby boy go from an immobile infant to a walking and talking babbling baby in just a year?? It is truly remarkable to look back on this past year and to see where C started at and where he is now.  I am so thankful to have been able to be front and center and see every single change with my own eyes and to experience every single achievement with C.

This last week has been an exciting one with C getting to experience his FIRST Christmas Eve, Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years! What a fun season this is.  We celebrated things differently this year with C and it was all so much fun.  Having a child around for the holidays does make it all the more fun, that's for sure.  I'm pretty sure C enjoyed all of the festivities as he was up later than normal and might have gotten spoiled rotten this year with all of his amazing gifts.  What can we say...he is one LOVED little boy!

As we are near the end of this first year, I am just in awe of how blessed we've been.  C is a terrific little boy.  He's a smart, easy going, happy kid that enjoys everyone and everything.  He has a slight temper on occasion and doesn't sleep as well as we'd like, but really, we've got nothing to complain about and so much to be thankful for.  As Matt's friends like to say, C is just "one really cool dude!"

This week has flown by with lots of new things going on.  C welcomed back his Grandpa and Apo after their long trip to the US.  He played at home with his new toys a lot.  He now enjoys more than 5 minutes worth of Elmo and actually sits and watches short videos.  If he likes a song, he'll even clap at the end! He's begun to "talk" more, which makes us wonder if he might actually start talking someday soonish.  C does seem to understand more of our questions and can kind of respond with grunts and shaking his head.  He loves eating and now really wants to eat whatever it is we are eating.  I think we'll soon be able to get away from preparing special foods just for him.

Day 358.. (12/24)
Going to an ice-cream shop on Christmas Eve!

Day 359 (12/25)
C's First Christmas! Playing in his new ball pit in his special Christmas jammies.
At our luncheon, C ate tons of cheese, turkey, and pasta!

Day 360 (12/26)
Happy Boxing Day! C cannot get enough of his new toys!

Day 361
Stacking, stacking, stacking....

Day 362
He's moving fast these days...do we already have a runner?

C doing the motions for Sawasdee Khap and looking handsome with his mama!

Day 363 (12/29)
Looking handsome for his first wedding!

Day 364
Hanging with Grandma!

Welcome back Grandpa!

Day 365 (12/31)
This time last year, we were heading to the hospital to welcome C.
Can't believe that tomorrow will be C's first birthday!

We've made it!

...Things to Remember...
- C tried turkey meat and loved it! He also ate a whole plate of pasta by himself! I am really happy that C seems to like all foods and is willing to give everything a try at least once.
- C was so happy to see his Apo and Grandpa again and they were both thrilled to see C.  It was cool to see him still remember them and go to them easily.
- On a personal note, I have been able to nurse C for his entire first year of life without any kind of supplement! This is a huge achievement for me and I am so proud of us for making it to this point.  I'm now looking to see what I can do to supplement sometimes as I will be slowly decreasing the amount I nurse C hopefully in this next year.

Merry Christmas from our family of three!
(This is our Christmas card this year.  Hope YOU got it and if not, send me your address for next year!)

We had ourselves a very merry Christmas and hope that you did too!  We had a slight sleep-in thanks to C's weird sleeping schedule these days, which was a nice start to the day.  Then Matt's mom, Jacquie, came over and we spent the morning opening gifts together.  There were presents galore and we had lots of fun opening them all.  We were all spoiled rotten.  C enjoyed all of the boxes and bags of wrapped presents, but had a difficult time opening them, which is funny as he has no problems tearing up tissue paper.  Don't worry though as I willingly stepped in and helped him open his presents and he loved everything that came his way!

Grandma's amazing gift to C was this awesome play set!
He's going to be making lots of new friends with this. :)

Hanging with Grandma and showing off the cool craft made by Daddy & C!
I may have teared up when I opened this one...

Matt and I got C this swimming pool and filled it with 500 balls! C was in heaven!

Trying to open gifts and loving all of his new clothes!

I joined C in the ball pit!

A family selfie!

After spending time opening presents, we had a quick skype date with my parents and brother in California.  It is tough not being around ALL of our family, but we make the best of it with skype.  Then C went down for his morning nap while we started cleaning up and getting ready to go to our Christmas lunch at the hotel down the street.

At 11:30, we headed out and met up with dear friends and we all shared a wonderful meal together.  I got my fill of turkey and mash potatoes, TONS of parma ham and cheese, and of course the creme brulee.  We ate lots and lots! At about 2:30, it was finally time to head back home for an afternoon nap for all of us!

Eating like a big boy at our lunch.

3 generations!

Happy family!

Don't mind the creepy lady in the back of our family portrait....

Later in the evening, we were invited to share Christmas dinner with some family members.  It was really lovely to spend time with aunts, uncles, and cousins on this day.  We had another delicious meal and had great fun catching up.  Even though all of our immediate family isn't with us, it sure was nice to spend time with our extended family.  We are so blessed to have awesome relatives!

The evening ended with C finally going to bed and Matt and I watching It's a Wonderful Life.  It really is, isn't it? :)

c's 50th week

It is official.  We have a WALKER! It has been so cool to see his transition from a crawler to a tentative only-taking-a-couple-of-steps to a full on confident walker.  C is a walking champ and can walk all by himself for long periods of time.  He still falls on his bum, but is able to now pick himself back up and keep on going.  At this point, C walks best on a flat surface and isn't that great with any dips of bumps.

C also has his second official word and it is Chinese! He says "mum mum," which is the baby word for food.  He uses this word when he is hungry for food and when he wants to nurse.  It is pretty cute to hear.  With all of this food talk, can I just mention how much this boy can eat?!? He is such a foodie and can eat a lot.  We are so thankful that he is not a particular picky eater and will eat all things given to him.  The only time he gets fussy is when he sees us eating and not sharing our foods with him! Silly boy.

Day 344 (12/10)
He loves his cereal!
I went to Cookie Exchange and had a blast and even won a prize! :)

Day 345
Check out the massive bruise on his cheek! Is it bad that I have no idea where it came from?

Day 346
Playing with a cow...HILARIOUS!

Day 347 (12/13)
C's first Santa photo at the Elementary School Christmas Concert...awesome!

Day 348
Enjoying the birthday party! C totally fell off the couch as he wouldn't keep still.
Thankfully it was a soft landing and he didn't get hurt.

Day 349
Matt bought these cool boxes for C to put all of his toys in!

Day 350
Going for a ride and enjoying his cold teething toy.  The boy has been teething like crazy!

...Things to Remember...
- C went to his first birthday party this week and had fun celebrating his friend.  He played with the other kids and had fun playing with the birthday girls' toys and all of the balloons everywhere.
- C is slowly getting used to shoes and is wearing them often when he is walking.  He has such fat feet that it is hard to get his feet into the shoes, so we've been using larger sizes and hoping for the best.  Poor kid.
