insecurities

I am not a writer.  I am not particularly witty, clever, or profound.  This isn’t anything new, but it has made me feel a bit inadequate when blogging lately.  It has caused me to feel uncertain as to what to write about and who would be interested in what I have to say.

In order to change my views, I’ve thought about why I’m writing this blog.  Thankfully I’ve realized that this space is not around to impress others or offer anything new to the world.  This blog is simply a place for me to share what’s going on in my life, in our lives, with our family and friends.  If a stranger becomes interested, then awesome! That said, the strangers that may come across this blog aren’t the ones whom I’m thinking of when I’m writing.  It is you, our family and friends that I think of when I share.  Since we are far away from most of you, this is my chance to have a conversation with you and let you know how things are going.

Since coming to this realization, I’ve felt a lot less pressured when thinking of what to write and share.  I hopefully will no longer be inhibited by the fear of what others think because you are my family and friends.  I know you will be supportive and encouraging and find what I have to say interesting (or at least pretend)!

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest as it has been on my mind for a while (at least 3 months now).  I think I’m ready to move on and start sharing again, so look forward to getting caught up on what’s been going on in the past three months!

  1. Hey Mel,
Thanks for sharing! I feel exactly the same way. I'm not a writer either and I don't have the words to express the odd good idea or profound thought I might have. Though those are few and far between these days. I too haven't been blogging lately as I felt like writing about the kiddos is just too...plain? ordinary? I look forward to reading your writings and hearing what your end of the conversation is. Maybe one of these days I will actually get a chance to update my blog! Love you,
    Sue

  2. Thanks so much Sue! It is nice to know that I'm not the only one. I will now visualize your face when writing some of my posts to put a face to whom I am writing to! :D If you start blogging again, I will definitely read it. I really do think it is a nice way to stay in touch and be a part of lives while physically being far away. So go on and blog lady! If I can do it, I know you can too!! Love you back! xo
