i dreamed a dream

Most of you who read this regularly (yay for family!) know that I grew up in Thailand.  Does that sound exotic to you? It actually wasn't as everything about living in Thailand was normal and ordinary.  It was just life...the only life I knew.  At the time, I didn't realize it was exotic to eat pineapples or mangos on a daily basis, that eating street food wasn't the norm, and that driving a motorbike at 15 was considered outrageous.  I didn't realize that people didn't play with elephants regularly, didn't let off fireworks on any given day, or didn't get to decide if they felt like wearing a seatbelt or not.

As I got older, I learned just how blessed I was to have been able to call Thailand my home.  Growing up, I met so many people from around the world who had left the comforts of their homes and their families to have the opportunity to live in Thailand.  People chose to leave what they knew in order to experience something completely new and different.  I found this to be incredibly cool and something I hoped to one day have the chance to do myself.  I wanted to be able to live somewhere unknown to me, someplace foreign.  I wanted to see if I could hack it abroad, away from what I was familiar with.

I'm happy to say that I am now living this dream.  Matt and I moved to Hong Kong on a whim and it has been incredible.  I wasn't sure I was going to make it that first week, but we survived it together and have grown stronger because of this experience.  We have had some awesome adventures since moving here and I'm so thankful that I have been able to see this dream become a reality.

An untouched view of Central from TST.
It was a misty, foggy night when yesterday.

I don't play around with adjustments usually,
but I really liked this picture with a slight fade in the colors.
Thank you P52 for the inspiration!
